auto safety features to keep our teens safe

When choosing a car for a teenage driver, you have got to keep safety in mind. Sure, we would all love to go out and buy a $500 clunker for our teens to drive, but will that car keep our teens safe as they learn to master the many skills of driving? I created this blog to help other parents identify cars that will keep their teens as safe as possible while driving out on their own. I have studied and researched to find all of the safety features that will provide optimum safety for our teens during their early days of driving and beyond.

Commute Regularly? 4 Features Your Next Car Must Have

If you spend an hour or more commuting five days a week to work, you spend a lot of time in your vehicle. As such, you'll want your vehicle to be comfortable and efficient to serve your commuting needs. When you go shopping for your next commuter vehicle, here are four features you should look for.

1. Comfortable Seats

When you spend hours each week sitting in your car, you want your seats to be comfortable. What is comfortable for one person can be different than it is for the next, but some seat features can have a greater level of determination on your comfort. As such, you are going to want to look for power controls. Power controls make it easier to adjust your seat, and they generally allow you a greater ability to fine-tune things and get comfortable. You will want to look for a chair that will enable you to adjust the seat and the lumbar support.

Next, look for a telescoping steering wheel and adjustable pedals. Being able to adjust the steering wheel and the pedals can go a long way to making your seat more comfortable. You can also look for a heated and vented seat, which will allow you to control your seat's temperature.

2. Automatic Transmission

When you are spending hours out on the road driving, an automatic transmission is a must. With an automatic transmission, you don't have to keep a hand on the clutch while dealing with stop and go traffic. Automatic transmission may also help improve your gas mileage.

3. Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive cruise control is another option you'll want to consider. Instead of just setting your car to maintain a certain speed and having to tap on the brakes every time the cars around you slow down, your vehicle will take care of that for you. With adaptive cruise control, your vehicle will slow down and speed up for you, allowing you to rest your feet while moving with traffic flow.

4. Wireless Integration

There is a good chance you may want to make some phone calls while you are on the road, which is why you need a vehicle with integrated wireless options. This will allow you to sync your phone with your vehicle and make calls hands-free. As many states now ban using your hands to operate your cell phone, this is a must-have feature for individuals who spend lots of time on the road.

If you are looking to purchase a new commuter vehicle, look for a vehicle with comfortable seats that you can adjust to your comfort level. Consider a vehicle with automatic transmission and adaptive cruise control for easy driving, and look for wireless integration to use your phone.
